HIGH PARK
HONOURING THE CRAFTSMANSHIP OF A CENTURY-OLD HOME.
HIGH PARK, TORONTOSome homes don’t need to be reinvented—they simply need someone willing to uncover the beauty that’s already there. Set just moments from High Park, this Victorian home had spent years waiting for thoughtful restoration. Beneath layers of neglect sat remarkable craftsmanship, generous proportions, and architectural details that deserved to shape the home’s next chapter rather than be replaced by it.
From the outset, every design decision began with respect for the original architecture. Century-old oak pocket doors were carefully restored, surviving trim profiles informed every new detail, and honest materials were selected for their ability to feel as though they had always belonged. Rather than recreating history, the goal was to allow the home’s existing character to quietly lead the conversation.
“The best period homes never feel restored—they simply feel understood.”
The bathrooms introduced a subtle sense of play, drawing inspiration from classic French interiors through layered tile compositions, contrasting borders, and carefully considered detailing. Warm timber, chrome fixtures, and understated natural materials bring balance throughout the kitchens, allowing craftsmanship and proportion to become the defining features rather than decoration.
Today, the home feels entirely at ease with itself. Rich in character yet perfectly suited to modern family life, it carries a quiet confidence that can only come from preserving what makes a home truly special while allowing it to evolve for generations to come.
DESIGN NOTES
THE BEST RENOVATIONS BEGIN WITH WHAT ALREADY EXISTS.
Original architecture often provides the strongest foundation for everything that follows.
CHARACTER IS CREATED THROUGH CRAFTSMANSHIP, NOT DECORATION.
Carefully considered details will always outlast passing trends.
A HOME SHOULD FEEL LAYERED, NEVER RECREATED.
The most enduring interiors acknowledge the past while embracing the way we live today.
